Palazzo Bourbon di Sorbello dates back to the 16th century and belonged to various noble Perugian families over the years. In 1780 itwas purchased by the Marchesi Bourbon di Sorbello. In the entrance hall of the building, noteworthy is the exterior wooden flooring which is a unique specimen in Umbria and extremely rare throughout Italy.
On the top of the grand staircase, elegantly frescoed rooms occupy the “piano nobile” which also houses the historic library of the Marchesi.
All the rooms are embellished with 18th century furniture and chandeliers.
On display is the family’s art collection, including valuable objects, old master paintings, engravings and fine Ginori porcelain of the 18th century.
On display is also a selection of hand-made items from the Ranieri di Sorbello School of Embroidery, which was founded in 1904 by the Marchesa Romeyne Robert at the Villa Pischiello, near Lake Trasimeno.
