Palazzo Radici stands in Bergamo, an ancient city of art, characterized by a rich craft and industrial culture.
Located at the foot of the Orobic Prealps and capital of the province of the same name, its name preserves the charm of a thousand-year-old history: Berg, a mountain, on which stands a house, Heim. Berghem, as it is called in the local dialect, has been home to illustrious figures known worldwide: Caravaggio, Pope John XXIII, Gianbattista Moroni, Gaetano Donizetti, Giacomo Quarenghi, Bernardo and Torquato Tasso, Lorenzo Lotto, Pietro Paleocopa, and Giacomo Manzù.
The development of urban architecture has followed over the centuries the natural hilly conformation of the land: in the upper part lies the ancient city, protected by the Venetian walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017; in the flat area stretches the modern city, the center of social life.
The city today
Today, Bergamo is an open and lively reality, where the two souls, Città Alta and Città Bassa, harmoniously merge to welcome tourists and travelers from all over the world. Close to Milan and Lake Iseo, it offers the opportunity for an unforgettable stay.
The palace
Via Porta Dipinta, Città Alta. Nestled among elegant facades of medieval buildings, Palazzo Radici stands out for its unique charm.
The palace was home to several families of the Milanese and Bergamasque nobility, among which stands out Countess Paolina Secco Suardo, known as Lesbia Cidonia, a famous poetess of the Arcadia Academy (1746-1801).
In 1891, the Radici family acquired the building to make it their residence. From that moment on, all the palace’s rooms have been a setting for daily life and an object of care and preservation.
The story continues
In October 2022, architect Barbara Radici, the property’s owner, began an important renovation project, focusing particularly on the spaces on the first and second floors.
From the entrance, reaching the charming inner courtyard, an elegant iron and brass gate leads to the grand staircase giving access to the first floor, where the refined rooms, designed for private, cultural, and musical events, welcome guests in an atmosphere of bygone times.
Through a separate entrance, one can access the second floor, transformed into an elegant Foresteria, where contemporary refinement and ancient charm harmoniously coexist in four exclusive rooms, offering each guest a truly unparalleled experience.
