Strategic Memorandum of Understanding between ABI and ADSI

Strategic Memorandum of Understanding Signed Today in Rome between the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and the Italian Historic Houses Association (A.D.S.I.)

A strategic Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in Rome between the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and the Italian Historic Houses Association (A.D.S.I.), by ABI President Antonio Patuelli and ADSI National President Maria Pace Odescalchi.

“Private cultural heritage is not merely a testimony to our history, but a living driver of the economy, culture, and social cohesion. Historic houses are a bridge between past and future—identity landmarks that hold communities and territories together, especially in more remote areas—and they represent a point of reference and inspiration for younger generations, who are called upon to recognize themselves in these places and in their memory. Preserving them is both a duty and an act of responsibility toward local communities and the country as a whole, but it is also a demanding commitment that requires significant resources,” stated Maria Pace Odescalchi, National President of the Italian Historic Houses Association, who added: “The agreement with ABI represents a concrete and innovative tool to make the protection of this heritage sustainable, by facilitating access to credit and encouraging investments in restoration, energy efficiency, and enhancement. Only through strategic alliances such as this can we ensure that historic houses continue to live and generate value for local territories, contributing to Italy’s cultural and economic development.”

“Through this agreement,” said Antonio Patuelli, President of ABI, “the banking sector strengthens its commitment to supporting culture and the local economies of our territories. Promoting virtuous collaborations with those who safeguard these places also means investing in projects that foster cohesion and sustainability. This is a tangible sign of how the banking sector actively contributes to the enhancement of cultural and territorial resources, supporting initiatives that generate positive social impact and strengthen the sense of community.”

ABI and A.D.S.I. will establish a joint working group tasked with monitoring the implementation of the Protocol, developing operational guidelines, and proposing annual updates.

Through this collaboration, ABI and A.D.S.I. reaffirm their shared commitment to supporting a heritage that is unique in the world and to promoting projects capable of strengthening the link between culture, local development, and social responsibility, creating the conditions for its transmission to future generations.
