The Cypress Island it is a small island, about two hectares in size, on which there is a large house.
The island is located in the Lake Pusiano which, although not one of the major Italian lakes, has an ancient and extraordinary history and has been inhabited, owned and frequented by prestigious and illustrious historical figures, as well as by artists and writers who have admired it under the charm of this gem of Brianza.
It is possible to rent the whole island for stays, holidays o prestigious private events in a particularly exclusive place.
The history of the Cypress Island
The history of 'Cypress Island starts in the Neolithic, 10 - 15000 BC There was a pile-dwelling village and, even today, it is possible to find flint artefacts used by the prehistoric population.
A private island in Lake Pusiano
In the 1300 the Curia of Milan owned the lake together with the Collegiate of San Giovanni Battista di Monza.
At the end of 700 replaced the nobles Carpani, feudal lords of the area. The period of the three marquises began: Francesco Carpani, Giuseppe Antonio Molo and finally Gerolamo d'Adda.
At the turn of the 1700 there are three Princes: Archduke Fernando Charles of Hapsburg - Este Lorraine, Prince Vicerè Eugenio of Beauharnais, who bought the island in 1812, and finally, with the return of the Austrians in Italy, the Archduke and Viceroy Ranieri of Hapsburg.
The Austrian Imperial house retained the property until 1831.
From 1874 the ownership of the island passed to Antonio and Egidio Gavazzi, Serbian industrialists of Valmadrea and, since then, to descendants and heirs.
