Palazzo Barbò, Torre Pallavicina

Palazzo Barbò is located near Torre Pallavicina, in the province of Bergamo, five kilometers from Soncino (Cr), and is an enchanting historic residence of the highest Italian architectural tradition.
The elegance of the façade and the interiors fit perfectly into the suggestive setting outlined by the immense park of 25.000 square meters, dotted with centuries-old trees, witnesses of the events that, over time, have distinguished the places. The vastness of the rooms, able to accommodate up to 500 guests, allows you to organize unforgettable parties, both during the summer season and during the winter.

The Palazzo, designed by the architect Antonio Campi, opens to the visitor's eye on the outside with a large portico under which up to 250 people can have lunch. Imposing is the Tower of Tristano, whose construction dates back to the 400th century, a real flagship, which stands high among the branches of the trees, dominating the park.

Inside, the ancient structure is divided on the ground floor into five halls, which in total can accommodate up to 160 people who alternate coffered attics, frescoes and marble fireplaces. In one of these stands a masterful painting by Campi himself.

The Palace never ceases to amaze: going up to the first floor, accessible by a large staircase, originally designed to reach the tower's stands on horseback, you will find a majestic hall that can accommodate up to 90 guests.

Outside, a large parking area has been created, in which there are 200 parking spaces.

Historical notes

Following the Peace of Lodi in 1453 between the Duchy of Milan and the Venetian Republic, Francesco Sforza commissions to his natural son Tristano the construction of a guard tower of the border which will follow, as established by the treaty, the course of the Oglio river between Soncino and Pumenengo. The Tower, known as Tristano, was thus erected on the lands of the Counts Barbò, feudal lords of the places since 1070, as opposed to Roccafranca, located on the Venetian side of the river.

In the same place, a century later, Adalberto Marchese Pallavicino, whose fortune is linked to the construction of the irrigation canal of the same name in the Cremona plain, decided to build a sumptuous residence "... for not wanting to follow ungrateful principles ..." and which " … Seat of idleness of peace for himself and his friends (SIBI ET AMICIS) ”, a purpose that can be read carved with a frieze, on the stone that runs over the arcades of the façade.

The palace then became the residence of the Barbò Counts who still own it today.
