The Casapiccola palace in Recanati
The Palazzo Dalla Casapiccola in Recanati, a historic 600th / 700th century residence, is open to guests who will thus be able to enjoy the exclusivity offered by this type of accommodation. The Palace was built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries to house high priests who went on pilgrimage to the nearby Sanctuary of Loreto. Many coats of arms in the courtyard and in the internal staircase testify to its passage. In the mid-nineteenth century, Domenico Dalla Casapiccola, great-great-grandfather of the current owner who lived in Vienna, moved with his family to Recanati where he bought the palace. While remaining absolutely intact in its original structure and in its furnishing decorations, it has been equipped with every comfort. The ceilings of the halls on the main floor have important eighteenth and nineteenth century frescoes depicting mythological and grotesque scenes.
The large cellars of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries have maintained their original structure with exposed brick and ribbed and barrel vaults: until a recent past they were used for the storage of cereals and for the production of oil and wine. Medieval are instead the long underlying caves that connected the Palace to other buildings and served as escape routes. The “Italian style” garden at the time of the construction of the Palazzo and, oriented towards the west, overlooks the “Colle dell'Infinito” of Leopardi's memory and the Apennines beyond the Marche valleys. The garden with flower beds full of flowers and surrounded by box hedges, is bordered by a stone wall that was part of the city walls.
