Tenuta Marchesi Alfieri in San Martino Alfieri

In ancient times, under the dominion of the bishop of Asti, castle belonged to the Solaro, lords of San Martino.

The family takes over from this family Alfieri that, after having reunited the property with swaps and acquisitions, in the 1696 important works began to transform the castle into a splendid baroque house, without excesses, with simple lines and in harmony with the surrounding landscape, dotted with vineyards.

The project was realized in the 1721 by the engineer Bertola.

Many Como masters embellished with stucco the rooms. Those of the salon are the brothers' work Catenazzi of Luganese origins. Around the 1820 the residence was modified one last time under the direction of the architect Ernesto Melano.

Today the estate is home towinery company Marchesi Alfieri who produces mainly Barbera d'Asti Docg di high quality. Part of the property has been renovated to accommodate enthusiasts wine tourists in every season.
