Villa Emo Capodilist "La Montecchia" in Selvazzano Dentro
Villa Emo Capodilista, also called "La Montecchia"Dominates a small hill, surrounded by vineyards, in a fortunate position halfway between Padua e Vicenza.
The villa, a masterpiece oflate-Renaissance architecture, from the time of His edification has always belonged to the same noble family.
The villa has been recently restored and furnished, and is exceptionally possible rent it exclusively for stays (12 beds). It can also be organized there group visits, for minimum 15 people.
The history of Villa Emo Capodilista
The villa, a masterpiece of late-Renaissance architecture, from the moment of its construction is
always belonged to the same noble family.
The construction work of Villa Emo Capodilista began in 1568, commissioned by Gabriele Capodilista and on a project by Dario Varotari (Verona 1539 - Padua 1596), architect and painter, student of the Veronese.
The square plan is reproduced in the distribution of the interiors: there are in fact four rooms on the ground floor and four on the first floor, connected by a monumental staircase four flights with a Greek cross.
In addition to the Varotari, they must also be the Mannerist frescoes some rooms and the loggia on the ground floor, with mythological scenes linked to the family's history.
The frescoes of the upper loggia are attributed instead to Antonio Vassalicchi, better known as theAliense (Milos, Greece 1556 - Venice 1629). The grotesque were made by Eliodoro Forbicini (Verona around 1533 -?), While the statues that surround the villa are attributable to the Bonazza family of talented Venetian sculptors who moved to Padua at the end of the seventeenth century.

The villa has been recently restored and furnished, and is now an exclusive location for events and holidays (12 beds).
Group visits can also be arranged for at least 15 people.
Inside the Villa there is a small swimming pool; for guests it is possible to use the adjacent one Olympic swimming pool by the La Montecchia Golf Club.
