Villa della Genga in Spoleto
The Villa della Genga overlooks the small village of Poreta, is located at the base of a green hill covered with oaks and olive trees in a dominant position in the valley.
Built in the seventeenth century, the Villa has played a dual function for centuries, the center of a farm with its outbuildings and farmhouses and the function of a leisure house, or hunting lodge. To confirm this latter function, the elegance of the place, the refinement of the paintings and, lastly, the permanence of Pope Leo XII during the 19th century.
The history of Villa della Genga
In the 1673 was built the beautiful villa in a setting of rare beauty and charming quiet, was the favorite hunting lodge of Cardinal Hannibal of Genga in 1823 was elected Pope assuming the name of Leo XII. The company with the Marquis Federico Pucci della Genga (1920) regained its splendor after a period of inactivity and was transformed into a center for the development and research of agricultural and cultivation techniques. Paolo Montani della Fargna Federico's nephew and heir of this passion, with his family, has extended this entrepreneurial concept of innovation also to tourist accommodation and cultural entertainment.
