The history of Villa Monsoglio
The estate of Monsoglio, with its late 16th century villa, belongs to the noble Florentine family Da Cepperello Pasquali from the 1884.
Owned today by Gianluca and Marina Mosiici, descendants of the noble family, it has been restored under the protection of the Superintendence of artistic and architectural heritage of the province of Arezzo.
The conservative restoration, which lasted 6 years (2005-2011), affected the villa in its entirety.
Both the precious frescoes in the interior rooms and its marvelous outdoor spaces have been brought back to their splendor; the large Italian garden, the tree-lined avenue and the pretty chapel of the villa containing the paintings of the Marquis Francesco da Cepperello Pasquali, great-grandfather of the current owners.
The original nucleus of the villa, dating back to the second half of the '70 of the sixteenth century, was built on the remains of the ancient hospital by the ancient Florentine Peruzzi family.
The villa has a late 16th century buontalentiano structure, with a monumental entrance staircase whose construction, given the presence of the same Buontalenti in Laterina in the two-year period 1573-74 for the restorations of the Romito, is attributable to the latter.
At the 1600, on the other hand, are the most important internal transformations of the villa, which was completely frescoed by Anastasio Bimbacci and his disciples.
