Villa Pisani Bonetti in Bagnolo di Lonigo, Vicenza
Villa Pisani, located in the hamlet of Bagnolo, in the municipality of Lonigo in the province of Vicenza, is a Venetian villa designed by the architect Andrea Palladio in 1542 on commission from the Pisani brothers of Venice. Since 1996 it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the others Palladian villas of Veneto.
Conceived as a country villa, whose purpose can be verified by the presence of barchesse adjacent to it, it has a park that is located behind the building. It is located near the river Guà in a strategic point, also overlooking the road that connects the village directly to the nearby Spessa.
Villa Pisani in Bagnolo di Lonigo, designed by Andrea Palladio starting from 1541, on his return from his first trip to Rome, and built between 1544 and 1545, it is perhaps the most representative work of the early period of his activity and with it he began his collaboration with the Venetian Republic.
Inspired by the monumentality of imperial Rome, Villa Pisani represented the affirmation of the power of Venice on the mainland: the residence, representative and livable at the same time, controlled the surrounding agricultural territory, while the position on the river connected it to the Serenissima for the transport of people and goods. The Villa has the main facade towards the river, while the back turned towards the work areas of the complex. Frescoes by Francesco Torbido, a pupil of Giulio Romano.
The Villa is now in perfect condition thanks to the work of the previous and current owners.
Inside the Villa and in the park there is one International Collection of Contemporary Art.
Located inside the garden of the Villa is the Barchessa, originally a rustic construction with large arched arcades for essentially agricultural use, which today comes back to life in the XNUMXst century after a careful restoration and complete restoration; preserved and enhanced with a refined Relais ArtHotel, large Event Spaces and the Osteria del Guà restaurant.

The Barchessa of Villa Pisani has maintained the typical arcaded structure with high arches, and represents the excellent result of the respectful activity of a long and patient restoration.
