Villa Subaglio in Merate
The hill Subaglio dates back to the ancient family of the same name of the Subaglio known since the Middle Ages, then extinct even before the Eighteenth century. An inscription at the bottom of the niche of the Villa's entrance hall suggests the Latin etymology for the name Subaglio: the words SUB ALIS TUIS seem to bring back the terms of an invocation to the celestial protection.
The Teresian maps revealed in the 1721 assign the property to the Marquis John Rescalli; in the 1773 the Marquis surrenders the Subaglio to the son Paolo. In the middle of XIX century the property passed from the Rescalli family to other owners, until February 1883 when the brothers Emanuele and Giovanni Prinetti bought the Subaglio.
Today the villa is one location di charm for weddings, private events, company meetings in historic residence.

Distinguished characters they were guests of the Villa, as in the 1825 theArchduke of Austria Carlo Francesco with the bride Sofa, later the Grand Duke Leopold II of Tuscany, Then the Duke of Modena Francesco d'Este. After theUnification of Italy some members of the House of Savoy were guests of the Villa.
