The Dwellings of the Quartet

Le Dimore del Quartetto is asocial enterprise and supports young international string quartets and chamber music ensembles in career start-up e enhances the European heritage of historic houses.

Born in 2015 from an idea by Francesca Moncada, Le Dimore del Quartetto develops from a simple one exchange: on the eve of an artistic commitment, the musicians are hosted free of charge in a residence for a maximum of one week and, in exchange, during the period of residence they offer a concert to the owners. In this circular economy, the residences become a precious resource for the quartets and vice versa: opportunities for meeting are created in unusual places and often decentralized territories, bringing back to life spaces not fully used and bringing a new audience to chamber music.

Today, Le Dimore del Quartetto, with a consolidated network in the musical and artistic heritage, he deals with planning through the organization of

  • festival e itineraries of travel aimed at discovering and enhancing the territories and chamber music
  • masterclass, courses of perfection and paths of training for musicians
  • educational projects for primary and secondary schools and universities
  • training and activities of team-building for companies
  • residences and concerts in historic homes and other places of cultural interest

quartets they are selected by Simone Gramaglia, viola of the Quartetto di Cremona. Le Dimore del Quartetto also collaborates with the main chamber music competitions and academies in Europe, as well as with the most important Italian concert companies, with the aim of ensuring the inclusion of a new generation of ensembles in the musical seasons. The network of mansions is developed in collaboration with ADSI - Association of Italian Historic Houses, FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano, European Historic Houses, Fundación de Casas Históricas y Singulares, Historic Houses UK, Embassies and Cultural Institutes throughout Europe.

Le Dimore del Quartetto stands out and finds strength in its own ability to network with local, national and international actors, generating shared value. Through diversified and innovative activities, Le Dimore del Quartetto is able to transform itself and respond from time to time to the new needs that have emerged in the cultural field and beyond, keeping faith with its mission of supporting young ensembles, spreading chamber music and enhancing of cultural heritage.

in 2017, the activity of Le Dimore del Quartetto is presented to the Chamber of Deputies, at the invitation of the Culture Commission, as part of the survey "Good practices of cultural dissemination".
in 2018, the organization is selected for the "Cultural Innovation"Of the Cariplo Foundation.
in 2019, Le Dimore del Quartetto wins itEuropean Heritage Award / Europa Nostra AwardIn the "Education, Training and Awareness Raising" category.
in 2020, the project MUSA - European young MUsicians soft Skills Alliance de Le Dimore del Quartetto, aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of musicians, is selected for the program Erasmus + of the European Union. In the same year, Le Dimore del Quartetto is presented as Project of Influence selected by The Best in Heritage.

Le Dimore del Quartetto was presented as case study of entrepreneurship and cultural innovation as part of the Management of Cultural Heritage courses at Bocconi University, SDA Bocconi School of Management, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and for the Master in "Planning and access to European funds for Culture, Creativity and Multimedia" of the University of Perugia.
