The Historic Center of Agropoli
\n<\/strong>10:00 AM<\/strong> \u2013 The tour begins at the Agropoli train station (FS), where a mini bus will take you to the historic center of Agropoli. After parking just below the walls of the Angevin-Aragonese Castle, you’ll visit this ancient fortress, originally built by the Byzantines and later expanded by the Normans. Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of several noble families, including the Sanfelice dynasty, who owned it from 1600 to 1806. Among the notable figures who lived in the castle is Luisa Sanfelice, a well-known character linked to the events of the Neapolitan Republic and protagonist of Alexandre Dumas\u2019 novel La Sanfelice<\/em>.
Inside the castle, you will explore the parade ground and the \u201cSala dei Francesi\u201d, then stroll through the medieval village streets to admire the churches of Saints Peter and Paul (patron saints of Agropoli) and the Church of Our Lady of Constantinople, which sits on a scenic square overlooking the Gulf of Salerno.
Along with visiting the sanctuary, you’ll learn about the annual celebration held every July 24th<\/strong>, featuring a beautiful sea procession. Our Lady of Constantinople is the patron saint of fishermen, and each year the largest fishing boat carries her statue across the sea, followed by a fleet of faithful and curious boats.<\/p>\n

You’ll walk along an avenue shaded by centuries-old pines, palm trees, and rare succulents, then enter the main gate of the villa to reach the grand hall and finally, the panoramic terrace \u2013 a breathtaking view will unfold before your eyes, making you feel like you’re flying over the sea with the cliff of Agropoli to your left.
Here, you will taste a unique liqueur made from Cilento\u2019s White Fig<\/strong>.
This historic residence dates back to the late 1800s and was a wedding gift from Marquis De Stefano of Ogliastro to his wife, Cecilia Manfredi De Blasis, lady-in-waiting to the queen. The residence hosted Prince Umberto of Savoy and Allied forces during WWII, who used it as headquarters for their officers. Recently restored, the villa is now a stunning location for unforgettable events like weddings and birthdays.<\/p>\n

Visit to Torchiara, a Noble Village
\n<\/strong>5:30 PM<\/strong> \u2013 Return to the mini bus and head to Torchiara<\/strong>, where you\u2019ll be welcomed at Borgo Riccio \u2013 an Italian Historic Residence<\/strong>.
The estate includes two villas, expanded and enriched from the 1800s onward. In the salon, you\u2019ll find a rare permanent Neapolitan nativity scene<\/strong>, which the owner, Angela Riccio De Braud, will explain to you in detail upon arrival.
Your visit continues through Torchiara\u2019s noble buildings \u2013 the medieval village boasts 14 aristocratic palaces<\/strong>, mostly built after Italian Unification.
In fact, the revolutionary uprisings of 1848 began here, led by Gian Battista Riccio, Andrea Torre, and Angelo Pavone. After unification, Andrea Torre became the first senator of the Kingdom of Italy, contributing to the development of his hometown.
The tour ends at the Church of the Holy Savior<\/strong>, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset before returning to Borgo Riccio for room check-in and poolside relaxation.<\/p>\n

Dinner in the Gardens of Borgo Riccio with Traditional Cilento Pizza

In one of the tasting areas of the garden, you’ll try typical local dishes such as mulignane m\u2019buttunate<\/em> (stuffed eggplants), acqua sale<\/em>, and the ancient Cilento pizza<\/strong>.
This traditional pizza is made with a dough of durum wheat semolina (Saragolla<\/em> type) and soft wheat flours (Carosella<\/em>, Risciola<\/em>, and Ianculedda<\/em>). It\u2019s topped with slow-cooked tomato sauce, grated Cacioricotta cheese<\/strong> (a Slow Food Presidia product), oregano, and local EVO oil.
This dinner will be a culinary journey through the staples of the Mediterranean Diet<\/strong>, recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage<\/strong>.
Another noteworthy fact: the principles of the Mediterranean Diet were also theorized by Sabato Visco<\/strong>, a physician and academic at the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome<\/strong>, who had roots in Torchiara.<\/p>\n

DAY 2
\n<\/strong>9:00 AM<\/strong> \u2013 Breakfast and check-out from Borgo Riccio by 10:30 AM. Meet in the parking area with your personal belongings and transfer by mini bus to Prignano Cilento<\/strong>.

\n<\/strong>11:00 AM<\/strong> \u2013 Visit and aperitif at Torre Volpe \u2013 Italian Historic Residence<\/strong>, nestled among the ancient homes of the old and picturesque village of Melito<\/strong>, in Prignano Cilento.
The tower dates back to the 11th century<\/strong> and features a square structure built of local stone, with typical high-medieval characteristics: arrow slits, battlements, and even the stones where the drawbridge hinges once rested.
Inside the historic residence, a short sequence of reception rooms leads to the Tapestry Room<\/strong>, the Arm Trophy Room<\/strong>, and the Halberd Room<\/strong>, the latter with a beautiful piperno stone fireplace<\/strong> inviting you to linger.
