Contact the abode

Palazzo Dalla Casapiccola in Recanati, a historical residence dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, is open to guests who seeking to enjoy the exclusivity offered by this type of accommodation. Located in the heart of the Marche region, with the characteristic appearance of small villages nestled on the hilly ridges, Recanati, a city of art and poetry, is surrounded by the gentle Marche countryside and is just a few kilometres from the sea.

The Palazzo was built between the 17th and 18th centuries to accommodate high-ranking prelates who went on pilgrimage to the nearby Sanctuary of Loreto. Many coats of arms in the courtyard and the internal staircase testify to their passage. In the mid-19th century, Domenico Dalla Casapiccola, the great-great-grandfather of the current owner who resided in Vienna, moved with his family to Recanati, where he purchased the building. While remaining absolutely intact with all of its original structure and furnishings, the Palazzo has been equipped with every modern comfort.

The ceilings of the halls on the main ‘piano nobile’ first floor feature important 18th and 19th-century frescoes depicting mythology and decorative scenes in the grotesque style. The spacious cellars from the 16th and 17th centuries have retained their original structure with exposed brick and barrel and vaulted ceilings. Until recent times, they were used for storing grains and for the production of oil and wine. In the caves beneath the Palazzo are tunnels dating back to medieval times that connected it to other buildings, as well as serving as escape routes.

The Italian-style garden, created at the time of Palazzo Dalla Casapiccola’s construction and facing west, overlooks the "Hill of Infinity", associated with and immortalised by poet Giacomo Leopardi, and the Apennines mountain range extending beyond the Marche valleys. The garden, with its rich flower beds and surrounded by boxwood hedges, is bordered by a stone wall that was once part of the city's fortifications.
