PALAZZO TORNIELLI DI CRESTVOLANT: THE IDEAL LOCATION FOR PRIVATE EVENTS IN MONFERRATO

Palazzo Tornielli di Crestvolant in Molare is an exclusive venue for weddings and private events in the province of Alessandria. The Palazzo is in neoclassical style and stands on a private square (Count Tornielli Square) surrounded by other buildings from the same period including a farmer's house, some stables and a small mansion with a central arch, all presented in the neo-Gothic style.

The Palazzo has an imposing symmetrical façade, with a protruding portal that leads to a balcony on the upper part. The windows are adorned with simple decorations and each floor is separated by a cornice. According to the original plan, the building consisted of the first two floors (as delineated by the most prominent cornice), with the front façade featuring a central balcony. In subsequent years, an extra floor was added to the property and two turrets were added.

Entering through the main entrance, the two impressive lateral staircases that lead to the upper floors instantly catch the eye, while a triumphal arch displaying the family crest is positioned next to the entrance door to the ballroom. It is also possible to visit the Bishop's room on the ground floor, with its magnificent ceiling decorated in pure gold on a perfectly preserved blue background and an authentic red damask canopy bed dating from the 18th century. Climbing the scenic staircase, one reaches the billiard room, also known as the music room. The decorations typical of the period show motifs from the Renaissance, and the roundels depict the Tornielli coat of arms and those of the countesses who married into the family. Count Federico recently commissioned renovated work on the cellars, which are now used for private events.

THE HISTORY OF PALAZZO TORNIELLI DI CRESTVOLANT

Palazzo Tornielli in Molare stands on the ruins of a castle once belonging to the Malaspina family. At the end of the 13th century, Tommaso Malaspina moved to the village of Cremolino and over the centuries the building, no longer serving as the feudal lord's principal residence, lost its importance and was eventually demolished in 1625. In 1834, Count Celestino Tornielli purchased the land and began construction work on the Palazzo that is still inhabited by the Tornielli family today. In 1840, Celestino Tornielli passed away and was succeeded by his heir Giovanni, who added an additional floor to the property, had two turrets built and commissioned the interior decorations by Ignazio Tosi, an artist living in nearby Ovada.
