Built in 1520 by Leonardo Zurla for his distinguished family hailing from Crema, the building features a sober façade that recalls sixteenth-century Lombard architectural standards which, as was customary at the time, reserved pomp and circumstance for the interior. Private rooms once reserved for the noble salons of bygone days have now become a unique location for corporate and cultural events, tours and workshops. Palazzo Zurla De Poli is able to draw upon a strong network of both professionals and businesses that can provide personalised services upon request. The revival of this private residence reflects the keen desire of the De Poli family to bring additional value to the city, with a space dedicated to promoting cultural activities as part of the development of the town of Crema and neighbouring areas, working in synergy with all the other organisations supporting this initiative.

Palazzo Zurla De Poli is proud to open its doors once again, and the family is delighted to welcome everyone following in the footsteps of its ancient splendour, as its salons and reception rooms again reveal their refined interiors, with stories and anecdotes that transform the stately mansion into a very special place for mind and soul.

The History of Palazzo Zurla de Poli

A veritable jewel in the heart of Lombardy, the residence is deeply embedded in an urban landscape interweaving art with tradition, its core values reflecting an ongoing dialogue between past and present. Originally built as a hunting lodge and meeting place for artists and men of letters in 1520, Palazzo Zurla De Poli is a masterpiece of the Lombard Renaissance period that over the course of the centuries has become a privileged venue for receptions and hunting parties, social gatherings and cultural exchanges with the aristocratic Zurla family. The Hall of Honour and three rooms on the main ‘piano nobile’ floor feature a series of frescoes with sacred and profane themes – including the parable of the Prodigal Son from the Gospel of Luke and the tale of Cupid and Psyche from Apuleius' "Metamorphoses", dated between the 1640s and the 1670s, painted by illustrious masters of that epoch, including Aurelio Buso and Giovan Battista Castello, also known as Il Bergamasco. Following some major conservation and restoration work, the building reopened in 2020 under a different guise, restoring the wonders housed in this newly discovered treasure to the city of Crema.
