THE HISTORY OF VILLA CALCIATI

The Villa was meticulously constructed between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. To the north-east of this splendid complex, nobleman Gerolamo Gerenzani commissioned the construction of a chapel in 1709, intended for public worship. Remarkably, to this day, monthly masses continue to be celebrated here by the parish priest of Dosimo, as decreed by the Curia on 22 September 1709.

The Villa's elegance is immediately apparent, drawing the eye even before one passes through the time-worn wrought-iron gate that grants entry to the enchanting courtyard and gardens before the Villa. Stepping through the entrance door, visitors are greeted by the main hall, which was adorned with magnificent frescoes in the late 18th century and boasts truly majestic proportions. A unique feature that sets this hall apart is revealed when one gazes upward—an exquisite wooden open gallery gracefully encircles the entire perimeter of the room, offering a privileged vantage point for viewing the entire architectural marvel. Ascending to this ‘loggia’ is a must, as it affords a unique perspective to appreciate the harmonious original terracotta flooring of the era.Top of Form

Guests have the exclusive privilege of enjoying all the Villa's spaces, including the courtyard, the park, the elegantly frescoed hall, the enchanting garden and the lavishly appointed rooms. To ensure an intimate and tailored experience, Villa Calciati hosts only one event per day, allowing each area to be customised according to the unique preferences and desires of our guests.
