Villa Pesenti Agliardi in Bergamo
Villa Pesenti Agliardi stands at the foot of the hills ten kilometers away from Bergamo. The original seventeenth-century villa, commissioned by Count Pietro Pesenti, was extended and modified in 1798 in the neoclassical style by architect Leopold Pollack.

Pollack’s sketches, which have been conserved and can still be viewed in the villa, depict the theme of a garden intended to delight both host and guests; adorned with impressive monuments that include two statues inserted in the façade which are the symbols of the stately home’s dominant themes, namely Agriculture and Hospitality.
The project was never fully completed, and the gardens were later reinterpreted in a more Romantic style.
Inside the Villa, visitors can admire the chapel, the monumental staircase and the many rooms decorated with stunning frescoes and stuccoes.
After the untimely death of Pietro Pesenti in 1826, the villa was inherited by his niece Marianna Agliardi.
