VILLA SOLA CABIATI IN TREMEZZO

Villa Sola Cabiati, an eighteenth-century residence purchased by the Dukes of Serbelloni as their summer escape, is one of the most spectacular Villas on Lake Como. It has preserved its treasures beautifully over time, featuring an intricate Italian garden, an impressive cast iron gate adorned with golden friezes and mythological statues, with Baroque decorations on its façade, a centuries-old park and frescoes from the Tiepolesque school decorating the rooms and creating a most magical setting for a truly exceptional experience. Careful and painstaking restoration work has transformed the family rooms into six suites, where the atmosphere of yesteryear blends with every type of comfort and modern technology.

The Villa offers week-long vacations during which guests are professionally and discreetly attended to by a staff composed of a housekeeper, chef, butler and chambermaid. It is additionally available for gala events, dinners, breakfasts, photo or film shoots and weddings. The Villa has an indoor parking area, a swimming pool with its own cabin and sundeck, a helipad, and a private mooring dock just a few meters away.

THE HISTORY OF VILLA SOLA CABIATI

Villa Sola Cabiati, the beloved summer residence of the Dukes of Serbelloni, represents a perfect example of late Baroque architecture. The main body of the Villa is flanked by two lateral wings, called "cappuccine": delicate stucco and grey pearl-coloured stone is accentuated by the soft blue hue of the shutters. The main body of the villa was built in the early 1500s by the Dukes of Carretto. In the second half of the 18th century, Duke Gabrio Serbelloni lent the mansion its current appearance by adding the two wings and decorating them with marble balconies and curved pediments. The Serbelloni family crest proudly stands atop the Villa, and the motto engraved on the entrance gate ("villulae quietem" or ‘the stillness of a small villa’) invites one to enjoy peaceful days of repose. The property later passed by marriage to the Sola Cabiati Counts and their descendants, and has not changed ownership since.
