The history of Palazzo Alliata di Pietratagliata
Around the second half of the 15th century, Antonio Temine, a judge of the Grand Court and magistrate of Palermo, established his residence in Via Bandiera, commissioning the construction of an imposing crenellated palace with a tall tower. The magistrate’s residence soon became a landmark for the people of Palermo; indeed, the presence of flags (or ‘bandiere’) flying from his tower, which for centuries was one of the tallest in the city, gave the streets its name, and it has in fact been one of the main thoroughfares of city traffic since the Middle Ages.

Late Gothic, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical and Neo-Gothic styles are all present in the Palazzo, enabling visitors to experience the captivating feeling of living through numerous historical epochs, almost as if in a time machine.
