The ancient granaries of Il Dominio di Bagnoli, which is also known as Villa Widmann-Borletti, were built in 1656 and have been subject to extensive restoration and conservation work.
The exceptional dimensions of the two adjoining halls of these former granaries make this historical residence an ideal venue for organising events and conferences for small and large groups. Forming part of the Villa Widmann complex, the centuries-old gardens and extensive open spaces provide the perfect backdrop for the covered Halls, which are divided into three reception rooms spanning 2,000 square metres and featuring original 17th-century terracotta flooring and trussed roofing.
Capacity ranges from 30 to 1,500 seated guests.
Our agricultural estate is also able to supply all the food and wines required for your event, ensuring the absolute guarantee of the origin and quality of the food provided.
The historic wine cellars are always open and ready to celebrate with you and raise a toast with a glass of Bagnoli Spumante DOC.
The history of il Dominio di Bagnoli
Villa Widmann-Borletti was commissioned by Ludovico Widmann and constructed in 1656 by Baldassarre Longhena on the site of a vast Benedictine monastery, which dated back to the year 1000.
The sumptuous and elegant residence of the Venetian Count soon became a holiday destination for noblemen and artists of the time. Among the most illustrious guests was Carlo Goldoni, who wrote and performed some of his famous comedies in the Villa’s theatre, sometimes even performing a role in the plays in person.
The garden is particularly worth visiting for its great beauty and historical interest. It is adorned with 160 sculptures, including statues representing Greek gods and signs of the zodiac. The most remarkable ones are the pairs of characters from the Commedia dell’Arte, created by Antonio Bonazza in 1742, which, placed in the theatrical setting of the garden, represent the pinnacle of the sculptor’s decorative expression. Today, they are brought back to life every year with a suggestive ‘son et lumière’ sound and light show (advance booking required).
