The Summa Foundation was established by the artist Franco Summa as a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to preserving, promoting, and disseminating
his artistic legacy and his vision of public art. Through exhibitions, research activities, educational programmes, and cultural initiatives, the Foundation
promotes art as a catalyst for civic engagement, social participation, and the aesthetic and cultural enhancement of shared public spaces, with a particular focus
on younger generations.
At the heart of the Foundation’s activities is the Summa Artist’s House and Studio, the historic home where Franco Summa lived and worked. Recognised as a
site of cultural significance by the Italian Superintendency for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of the Provinces of Chieti and Pescara, the House and Studio
preserves the artist’s original workspace, artworks, documents, sketches, a specialised library, and the digital archive of his oeuvre. Today, it serves as a
vibrant centre for study, research, and cultural exchange, welcoming scholars, students, and visitors, while fostering an ongoing dialogue between Franco
Summa’s artistic vision and contemporary culture through exhibitions, educational activities, and public programmes.
