Villa La Paesana is a quintessential summer residence located in the heart of the Turin countryside in Piobesi, about 20 kilometres from the city centre. It features a private chapel, a garden and a park.
The history of Villa La Paesana
The property was acquired in December 1699 by Baldassarre Saluzzo, Count of Paesana and Castellar, who commissioned the grand Palazzo Saluzzo di Paesana in Turin, designed by Plantery. The construction of the villa in its initial form dates back to the first decade of the 1700s and included an Italian-style garden.
In 1738, the property passed to the Graneri di Cercenasco family, who maintained it largely unchanged until the end of the same century. It was then purchased by Modesto Gautier, along with the vast surrounding estate, including the fiefdom of Confiengo in the None area. The Villa was then rebuilt and expanded around 1810-1815, and an English park was added, inspired by the designs of Xavier Kurten, reflecting the fashionable trends of the time.
Since then, the estate has remained in the Gautier di Confiengo family, who continue to reside there all year round.
