The Patrizi Montoro family’s historic home is the perfect venue for hosting aperitifs, business lunches and dinners, or simply spending a special evening in the company of Marquis Corso, who will personally accompany you through the stately rooms, presenting the works of art and the family’s long and illustrious history.

THE HISTORY OF PALAZZO PATRIZI MONTORO

Located in the Sant’Eustachio district, Palazzo Patrizi Montoro stands on the site of what was originally a modest house purchased in 1596 by Giovanni Francesco Aldobrandini. In 1611, Donna Olimpia Aldobrandini had the building modified, including the construction of the present façade. This façade may have been based on a preliminary design by Giacomo della Porta and was later executed by Carlo Maderno.

In 1642, the Palazzo passed to the Patrizi Marquises, who were of Sienese origin but were related to many Roman families, including the Montoro Marquises in 1736 and the Naro Marquises. The latter were custodians of the famous ‘Vessillo di Santa Romana Chiesa’ (Vessel of the Holy Roman Church), which was presented to them by Pope Urban VIII in 1603.

The family's art collection primarily resulted from the passion and financial support of two of the Pope's treasurers: Costanzo Patrizi (1589–1624) and Giovanni Battista Patrizi (1658–1727), who played a pivotal role in funding the construction of the family villa.
