Contact the abode

Razza del Casalone, with its 2-hectare secular park and swimming pool, is an elegant ‘agriturismo’ farmhouse adjacent to Grosseto in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma region, just 10 km from the sea. It is an ideal holiday location for a couple or for a family vacation and is strategically positioned in close proximity of the sea and places of interest in the Maremma coastal area. Converted from an ancient farmhouse built in the 1700s, Razza Del Casalone is on the doorstep of the city of Grosseto and is situated on the Strada delle Collacchie route which leads to the Marina of Grosseto, approximately 2.5 km from the railway station. Over the years, the city has developed closer to the 18th-century farmhouse, which has preserved its original stone appearance and overlooks a large garden and a centuries-old park.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES: ACCOMMODATION IN THE TUSCAN MAREMMA REGION

The farmhouse consists of an old 18th-century building that has been divided into 5 apartments, as well as a large common room measuring 150 square metres. In the garden, there are 7 identical, adjacent apartments, converted from the former stables belonging to the historical Razza del Casalone breeding farm. Razza del Casalone is an authentic agriturismo offering farmhouse accommodation in the Tuscan Maremma, where visitors can create unforgettable memories immersed in the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. In front of the farmhouse and the old stables, there is a spacious garden and grounds with pine trees, holm oaks and cypresses, illuminated in the evening and equipped with tables and chairs. The property also features a swimming pool (7x15 metres), open for use between May and October, a children's playground and private parking.

THE HISTORY OF RAZZA DEL CASALONE

The Ponticelli family first acquired the farms in the Maremma area in 1650. Among their descendants, famous horse breeder Luigi Ponticelli is particularly noteworthy. Ponticelli founded the Grosseto racecourse in 1927 and bred thoroughbred horses at Razza del Casalone. In 1968, Marcello Pallini inherited the property, and in 1999 he transformed it into a farm holiday centre, ceasing the horse breeding activities. Razza del Casalone is currently managed by Marcello's wife, Diana Theoodli and their children, Guido and Matidia Pallini.
