Castello di Porcia is a symbolic landmark in the history of the Friuli region. The castle complex consists of a central keep, a Renaissance wing and a Venetian-style building.
Originally built for military purposes to protect the territory from barbarian invasions, the Castle became the permanent residence of the noble Porcía e Brugnera family from the 12th century who ruled these lands for the following eight centuries, holding important political and military positions under the Serenissima Republic of Venice.
Today, the Castle of Porcía is still inhabited by the same family and is at the centre of an agricultural estate spanning 840 hectares, where prestigious fine wines and other products are cultivated using state-of-the-art technology.
The historic cellar of the Castle, a testament to the family’s wine-making tradition, offers guided tours and wine tastings. Not far from the Castle, Azzano Farm offers the possibility of purchasing and tasting wines produced from sustainable agriculture and a selection of typical Friulian products.
