The San Germano farmhouse in Acerenza

You can see it in the distance, both for its sobriety and its grandeur, it dates back to the seventeenth century.

It is located in the homonymous district, near the Bradano river.

The farm is built in stone and is on three floors: the first and second intended for housing and the ground floor occupied by services and offices. In the original plan there were the warehouses for the storage of grain and the stables, with paving in white river stones, placed for horses and mules, employed at the time in the work of the fields and for transport.

The earthquake in the 1980 caused damage of some importance, but a careful restoration and adequate maintenance have returned its original beauty.

The farm is owned by the Schiavone Panni family, who live there for a few months a year, continuing to manage the funds located in the valley at the foot of the village, Acerenza, for almost 500 years.

The Cloths, an ancient acheruntine family, bought in the seventeenth century, at the end, the fief of Acerenza for 21.500 ducati; the family became extinct with Vincenzo Panni, who in the 1921 with a special adoption decree moved his surname and property to Alfredo, son of his sister Maria Francesca, married to Vincenzo Schiavone.
