Villa le Cipresse: historic home in the Lucca countryside
Villa Le Cipresse is a splendid residence of approximately 500sqm. in the Lucca countryside, but only 10 minutes from the famous walls of Lucca, with magnificent views of the surrounding hills, arranged on three levels and divided as follows:
On the ground floor we find the entrance, a TV room and library, a dining room with fireplace, an office with wardrobes for all the equipment for setting, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, a laundry room all covered in marble. All the rooms have beamed ceilings, terracotta rafters and bricks and floors in gray and white Carrara Bardiglio marble.
On the first floor we find the main living room with entrance from the external gray stone staircase, a beautiful double bedroom decorated with nautical charts, complete with a large walk-in closet and its large bathroom in burgundy marble, a study, the master double bedroom with balcony and exit to the garden with a large and elegant bathroom with Jacuzzi and walk-in closet. A / C in the rooms.
On the second floor instead we have a second independent entrance that opens onto a large kitchen / dining room with fireplace, a large double bedroom with white marble bathroom, a TV lounge with fireplace and a corridor leading to three other double bedrooms and two white ceramic bathrooms. Beautiful sage green painted wood floors, A / C and fans in all bedrooms. Wi Fi Internet throughout the house.
Just outside the garden wall there is the swimming pool area with a 10,5 × 3,5 meter pool with water treated with salt. The solarium also offers shaded areas as well as sun loungers and chairs. Complete the area a cabin with bathroom and barbecue.
In the garden there is a sitting area with various sofas and armchairs and an “al fresco” dining area for 12 people.
Scholars believe that the villa and the group of houses that surround it were part, since the fifteenth century, of an ecclesiastical complex and that the villa itself was the church of the adjacent convent. This hypothesis is supported by the large arch of an ancient door and by the two smaller arches, certainly pertinent to two windows, which can still be seen on the side facade facing south.
Other proofs of the above are in the beautiful garden where we find a nymphaeum similar to those found in the "hortus conclusus" of Villa Parensi and the pergola of vines and wisteria supported by brick columns in the classic cloister style.
The first certain date is 1690 found engraved in the adjoining chapel, then you have to wait for the land register of 1838 to begin having certain documentation. It seems that this area was owned by the powerful Lucchese family of Mansi.
It is impossible to trace the various owners who succeeded each other in the centuries before 1900. After the war it was owned by the Mac Andrews. It is said that Mrs. Carol even though she was no longer very young loved to bathe naked, creating a great scandal in the neighbors, in the small tub next to the well now used as a "herbarium".
Mrs. Carol Mac Andrew was the first president of the Lucchese Music Association who still remembers and honors her with scholarships for young musicians.
In 2008 Villa le Cipressae was purchased by the current owners the Marquises Guidi di Bagno, an ancient Tuscan family, who have completely renovated the villa and while modernizing it have fully respected the ancient style of the house making it one of the most appreciated and sought after holiday destinations among the villas of Lucca.
