Guided tours in 14 Bergamo historical private residences

Demonstration at its Second Edition, organized by the owners of 14 dwellings
private historians of the Bergamo area, which during Sundays and April holidays, May
and September 2019, will open the doors of their homes to visitors and will lead them to discovery
of secret and fascinating places, rich in history and works of art.
From our website www.dimorestorichebergamo.it you will find the calendar with the details of the event and the description of each dwelling.

The initiative was born in the 2018 from the owners' desire to give a quality offer for a broad one
time frame. The First Edition has been very successful, with more than 2600 visitors in 8
Sundays so, for the 2019, it was decided to increase the opening days.

The goal is to make tourists and citizens of Bergamo aware of an important private heritage
hardly accessible to the general public. The September openings will be inserted inside
of the event " The Masters of Landscape”, An event that involves green enthusiasts,
landscapes and gardens and has an international appeal. Moreover, to bring the public closer
small to art and history, in some homes they will be planned special days dedicated to
children with theatrical guided tours, animated by costumed characters based on the history of
place. (25 April Castle of Lurano and 1 May Villa Vitalba Lurani Cernuschi)

During the "Sundays for Villas, Palaces and Castles ..." visitors can retrace together with the
owners the memory of some important events and curiosities: for example a Palazzo Terzi they were
hosted two emperors and that in the 1913 Hermann Hesse, arrived by chance in the small square in front
at the Palazzo, so he called it: "one of the most beautiful corners of Italy, one of the many little surprises and joys
for which it is worth traveling ... ". TO Villa Pesenti Agliardi the photograph was taken of Maria
Montessori which was then used for the portrait of the educator on banknotes of a thousand lire.
A Palazzo Barbò Ermanno Olmi made the film "Il mestiere delle armi"In which the last days are told
of life of the condottiere Giovanni dalle Bande Nere. In the Sala degli Uccelli at Villa Vitalba Lurani
Cernuschi, Quirino Salvatoni, fresco painter, born in Gandino in the 1787 and passionate ornithologist,
he depicted more than 50 different species of birds.

Many of these homes open all year round by appointment for groups, while others have decided
recently to venture into this experience.
The variety of the types of houses and the precious works they contain will constitute an interesting one
artistic and cultural enrichment for all visitors. It will be a unique experience to enter for some
hours in history and live in these homes steeped in the past.
